ABSTRACT

As an academic dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Texas Tech University, I routinely interact with the academic, administrative, and student services personnel. As a faculty member, I have met the publication and teaching requirements for tenure and promotion to full professor within a department of psychology, for which I was the designated career psychology professor in its APA-accredited counseling psychology doctoral training program. In that role, I interacted closely with the university’s counseling center. My experience in the applied, academic, and administrative realms has given me a perspective that I share with my counseling psychologist colleagues to better prepare others who find themselves in this situation. I am proud to be a student of Samuel Osipow, and I hope that my thoughts on career services will help safeguard Osipow’s contributions for future generations of students.
