ABSTRACT

Some of the more provocative distinctions between electronic and printed text that have

been discussed in this section, such as the availability of multiple text segments linked in

hypertext networks, may have only limited relevance to the circumstances of the

beginning reader. It is in the area of electronic resources, designed to support the novice,

that textual transformations have their greatest significance in primary classrooms.
