ABSTRACT
An education major at a nearby university told us about an ongoing assignment she has
for one of her classes: Students must bring a newspaper article about education to be
discussed at the beginning of each class. “It’s depressing,” she said. “I’m starting to think
about changing my major. Articles are easy to find, but they nearly all say the same
thing-what a horrible job our schools are doing.”
