ABSTRACT

As the millennium approaches and the workforce becomes increasingly diverse, more research will be conducted on diversity and mentoring relationships in organizations. We hope that this book will help chart new directions for future research on diversity and mentoring relationships and will ignite a stream of research in this exciting new area. Through the course of this book we have made some inroads into exploring the relationship between diversity and mentoring relationships. However, we also know that the answer to one question usually means the beginning of another. Because diversity and mentoring are both relatively new constructs and it is clear that we have more questions than answers, at this juncture we can provide only a rudimentary road map for future research on diversity and mentoring relationships in organizations.
