ABSTRACT

At the headquarters of the Center for Creative Leadership in Greensboro, North Carolina, on a sunny Monday morning in July 1985, the staff was gathered to meet the incoming president. There was anxiety in the air. Part of it, quite understandably, came from my entering their world from a different domain. Neither academician nor management consultant, I had spent the last 37 years in the U.S. Army-4 as a cadet at West Point and 33 as an officer.
