ABSTRACT

Sarah had a new position-teaching in Spanish in a bilingual second grade. On the very first day of school, she gave these second graders the task of writing a sentence to go with their picture of an adventure they had during the summer. One girl responded to the assignment, “I don’t know how to write.” This became the impetus of Sarah’s inquiry on writing-trying to help these young children see that they could be writers, and could be authors.
