ABSTRACT
It was with great pleasure and yet some apprehension that I accepted the invitation to write this chapter about my father, Joseph Banks Rhine. On the one hand, I welcomed the opportunity to pay tribute not only to my father, but also to my mother, Dr. Louisa E. Rhine. Without her close personal and professional support I’m sure my father could not have achieved nearly as much as he did; they had nearly 60 years together. (Throughout this chapter, I refer to my father as “JB” and my mother “Louie”).
