ABSTRACT
The method of scoring and interpreting the SCT presented in this manual is essentially the same as that in the original 1970 SCT manual (Loevinger & Wessler, 1970). Detailed data on the homogeneity, reliability, and validity of the SCT were presented there and in subsequent reviews, principally those of Hauser (1976) and Loevinger (1979). The main points of those reviews are summarized, but it is unnecessary to repeat the full details of those reports.
