ABSTRACT
The preceding chapters covered well-developed foundational areas of neural network research. This chapter takes us into the farther reaches of neural and cognitive modeling, problems that are profoundly important and still far from completely solved. Potential applications of the work discussed include the use of neural networks in business applications, the development of robots with capacities for planning, the building of “intuitive” capabilities in intelligent machines, and the treatment of mental and neurological illnesses.
