ABSTRACT

This is a membership organization open to anyone interested in the history of Oriental medicine anywhere in the world. The

society was founded in 2001 as a way for medical historians around the world to meet and share information in a collegial environment. Topics of interest to the society include historical perspectives into public health, pharmacy, dentistry, nursing, and medicine in Asian countries. Meetings are organized biannually, and a newsletter is released semiannually. The society also keeps a database of medical historians active in this research fi eld. The society plans to organize meetings once every two years, to issue a newsletter every six months, and maintain a registry of medical historians in Asia. The site provides news, forums, links to history of medicine sites, and a directory of scholars. The site has information about conferences held by the Asian Society for the History of Medicine.
