ABSTRACT
This chapter reviews values in European higher education by investigating its attitudes towards ethnicity, and in particular towards minority ethnic groups. Two questions are of particular concern: two sides of the same coin. First, how far do higher education systems and institutions in Europe themselves recognize, represent and promote cultural diversity? Second, in respect of society in general, is higher education a force for stimulating the social integration, or for perpetuating the social exclusion, of minority ethnic groups?
