ABSTRACT

In Antoine de Saint-Exupery’s story The Little Prince, the hero leaves his home planet to visit neighbouring asteroids in order to add to his knowledge. The only inhabitant of the asteroid is its king, who has all the trappings of royalty-purple and ermine dress and seated on a throne. The Little Prince is immediately recognized as a subject, which puzzles him, as the king has never seen him before. He failed to realize ‘that the world is simplified for kings. To them, all men as subjects’.
