ABSTRACT

Pete leans forward. “So, we should do the evaluation plan now, then work on the celebration later. Makes sense to me. How about you, Micah?”

Chapter Focus In the fourth phase of the Collaborative Service Learning Model, project teams and their students evaluate their projects and celebrate new learnings and perspectives. To do this, they gather, interpret and share information from many sources including student outcomes assessment, client and partner feedback, and project team self-evaluation. Teams can assemble all of this information, construct meaning from it and celebrate that meaning with a wide variety of audiences by carrying out three steps: 1) developing and implementing an evaluation plan, 2) using inductive thinking to analyze and interpret the information the evaluation plan generates, and 3) integrating information from reflective learning experiences and evaluation in celebratory activities. The chapter describes basic procedures for carrying out these steps.
