ABSTRACT

Chemistry teacher Lisa Moranowsky advances to the front of the room. “Good report Manny. If we all followed your guidelines, everyone would be a lot safer. And you’re right. We want the same things the EPA wants-for everyone’s health and safety. You know, your report makes me wonder if the EPA could use our help in some way.” She turns to the class. “How about it? Could we use what we’re learning about household chemicals to help our local environmental protection office reach the people in your neighborhoods? And how could we do it-find out if the agency really needs our help. And if they do, how could we team up with them in a project that connects to what we’re studying and makes a difference in our own community?”
