ABSTRACT

Apart from examining the overall effectiveness of teaching people to use representations to deal with conditional probabilities, the grid and Venn representations were compared the same way they were in the conjunctiveprobability training (chapter 5). It was again expected that the grid representation would yield results superior to the Venn diagram representation. The study was designed to measure immediate and long-term training effects, as well as generalization, to a type of task not used in the training, and to different task contents.
