ABSTRACT

There is little doubt that technology will have a major impact on the teaching and learning of mathematics and science. However, we contend that results from the enterprise of designing effective software have fallen short of their potential. We take “effective” to mean simultaneously pedagogically efficacious and fecund in the development of theoretical and empirical research. In this chapter, we describe a model for integrated research and software and curricula development that we believe will help to fulfill the potential of software development and correlated research.
