ABSTRACT

In their chapter (chap. 8, this volume) Porac, Rosa, Spanjol, Saxon, and Nielsen make the important point that for the U.S. minivan market a cer.. tain dominant design emerged at a certain point in time as buyers and sellers developed a mutually reinforcing understanding of the idea of a minivan. This created a new state ofcoherence, which reflected a gradual extinction of alternative designs of minivans that were not competitive.
