ABSTRACT

One of the coauthors’ first teaching assignments was three classes of eighth-grade American history and two classes of seventh-grade world geography. When one of his friends, a high school principal, heard the classes he would be teaching, he declared, “If you can teach eighth-graders, you can teach anyone!”
