ABSTRACT

Several investigators have recently attempted to determine the maximal anaerobic power from different viewpoints (Katch 1974; Evans and Quinney 1981; Dotan and Bar-Or 1983; Simoneau et al., 1983; LaVioie et al., 1984; Patton et al., 1985). Attention has been devoted to establishing the best method of eliciting the maximal mechanical power output and to clarifying the energy patterns in such short-term, strenuous activities. The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between maximal anaerobic and aerobic power of Rugby football players by measuring their maximal mechanical power outputs and their maximal oxygen intakes.
