ABSTRACT

Over twenty-live years have passed since the National Conference of Catholic Bishops in the United States issued the pastoral letter To Teach As Jesus Did.’ For many years, this document has inspired Catholic educators to think of teaching as ministry and to model their own behavior after Jesus. That Jesus was a teacher is clear from the many gospel stories told about his large following, his engaging parables, and his use of poignant and relevant examples. Some have even called him the master teacher.2
