ABSTRACT

This chapter is an amalgamation of a variety of experiences I have had during the past 20 years of working in the field of language and literacy in early childhood. Thus, the incidents referred to are based on several events at a particular point in time, and do not in any way reflect individual people or institutions. All the children’s names have been changed to preserve confidentiality. I could not have made this journey without the children I have worked with, my family, friends and colleagues who enriched every moment and continue to do so.
