ABSTRACT
Most adults seem to remember, value and show appreciation of junior, secondary or higher education teachers for whom they felt fondness, value, respect and appreciation. Only a few mention their very earliest teacher. Think of Tony Blair’s list of selective celebrities naming their favourite teacher, or the section in The Times Educational Supplement called ‘My Best Teacher’.
