ABSTRACT

The development of my own thinking and practice is at the heart of the ideas presented in this book. Indeed, a central argument is about the importance of reflecting on and learning from experience. With this in mind, therefore, this chapter provides an outline of some of the changes in my thinking that had occurred in the years prior to the two projects that are the main focus of attention. These provide a theoretical context for the experiences that are described and the proposals that are made in subsequent chapters.
