ABSTRACT

Dawn Bellamy is a teacher of English in Wiltshire in England. Through Jack Whitehead, who introduced her to action research during her PGCE (Post-Graduate Certificate in Education) course at the University of Bath, Dawn has had opportunities to meet each of the co-editors of this collection at conferences on teacher education and educational research since 1994. We are very pleased to include here this account of her perspectives on professional voice as she looks back over her year-long initial training course and her first two years as a ‘newly qualified teacher.’
