ABSTRACT

Schools have different definitions of what a scheme of work is for so the very first task is to understand what they mean in your school. They could be defined as a mixture of the following: the Programmes of Study in the National Curriculum; a compilation of the long-and medium-term plans devised

by the school; a compilation of all the planning in the school; long-term plans grouped by content rather than the terms in

which they will be taught; long-term plans linked to subject guidance for the class

teacher; and the organisation of the Programmes of Study and National

schemes of work to create the school’s own syllabus.
