ABSTRACT

All too often the complaint of teachers and parents is that SEN provision is ‘resource driven’ rather than ‘needs based’. It is a fact that finite resources are available and that schools, LEA and support services must cooperate in order to maximise the ‘efficient’ use of resources. A major element of efficiency is, of course, effectiveness. An important fact of the SEN coordinator's responsibility is the allocation and management or resources — human, physical, time and financial. It is vital to have agreed strategy relating the allocation of resources to the school's policy.
