ABSTRACT

Individual Education Plans (IEP) are required from Stage 2 of the Code of Practice and as SENCO you will normally be involved in helping staff to develop them, perhaps advising them on their implementation and monitoring, and bearing responsibility for monitoring and review. Developing and monitoring a child's IEP is a major aspect of the role of a SENCO, and an IEP often reveals the strengths (and weaknesses) of a school's policy, procedures and coordination of SEN.
