ABSTRACT

This chapter will look at some practical ways in which you could begin to initiate change based on the confidence and information gained from the earlier stages of your work. It will explain how parts of your action plan can now be developed and new issues will be introduced. Finally, the ideas developed in these first three chapters will be brought together in a sample job description for a geography coordinator, providing a framework through which to view the role you have developed. So far you will probably have worked with individual members of staff and small groups. At some stage you will want to lead meetings for the whole staff to promote the development of geographical education. If these meetings are successful they will raise the profile of geography, improve staff understanding and confidence and finally, provide a foundation for consensus and ownership of any changes which are to take place. It will rest on your ability to plan and manage meetings.
