ABSTRACT

Assessment is a powerful tool in the armoury of the primary coordinator of design and technology and, as was seen in Chapter 5, the contribution of assessment and recording was emphasised to the school’s monitoring and evaluation in Chapter 11. Assessment, recording and reporting are important to the design and technology coordinator as assessment will drive the cycle of teaching and make it responsive to the needs of the children. It will also, as has been said, provide an important source of information for both monitoring and evaluating the design and technology going on in the school. In order that your advice to colleagues complements other school policy you should make yourself familiar with the content of the school Assessment, Recording and Reporting (AR&R) policy and establish dialogue with the colleague responsible for this.
