ABSTRACT

The third strand to the evaluation model introduced in Chapter 11 (pp. 138-141) was that concerned with assessment of progress-How well are the children doing? As the coordinator, you will need to spend some time monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of what has been planned and taught in science. In other words, you will need to address the question, What are the children learning in science? Such assessment is an important part of any effective curriculum for any teacher, and very much part of your responsibility as the coordinator. It will involve you in making judgments based on clear evaluation criteria and using evidence collected in a variety of ways.
