ABSTRACT
So, what is the job? Subject coordinator, subject manager, person with responsibility for, post holder; all of these are ways that are being used to describe the job of the coordinator. From what were called scale posts of responsibility just a few years ago, primary teachers have moved through various titles towards what is often now called subject manager responsibility. As they have moved through the titles the job has grown and grown, and the expectations upon the person charged with developing a subject in the primary school are large. All the responsibilities usually have to take place around, behind, above and below that central task of running the learning for a class of children.
