ABSTRACT

Mostly it may seem appropriate to notice but not intervene in these situations. Sometimes it can work to recall something to the children’s attention later and take it a bit further e.g. ‘when you were putting teddy to bed you were humming/making a song for him, something like…? perhaps we could make some of that song again now?’ or ‘I heard all sorts of helicopter sounds earlier…can you remember any of them?’. Some talk could follow about the songs or sounds themselves.
