ABSTRACT
Image 2-I am a first-year kindergarten teacher desperately pulling weeping children from their mothers’ arms and shutting the classroom door to prevent their escape. If they try to bolt for the door I tighten my grasp on their tiny wrists. The windows are covered with paper so that the mothers cannot see inside. These children are mine now and I view their mothers as a distraction and a nuisance. It is time for them to separate and sever emotional ties with home.
