ABSTRACT

The chapter presents the findings from the two major questionnaires utilized in the research: the Work Profiling System (WPS) and the Occupational Personality Questionnaire (OPQ), and also includes a description of the instruments used. The chapter is divided into four sections. Section 1 focuses on the Occupational Personality Questionnaire. The use of personality questionnaires in an occupational context, the relevance to headteachers, and the structure and background to the OPQ are discussed. The major findings from the OPQ-the personality attributes which seem to characterize headteachers and distinguish them from other non-educational sector professionals and managers, and variations according to gender of head and school sector-are presented.
