ABSTRACT

I believe that teaching needs to be interactive and challenging as learning does not occur just by listening, it occurs by reconsidering one’s understanding through deeds, thoughts and actions. Therefore, so that student-teachers’ learning about teaching is meaningful, the teaching employed should challenge and motivate them to take steps to make new meaning from teaching and learning episodes. More so, attempting to understand the complex nature of teaching and learning must go beyond mere rhetoric such that, for me, teaching student-teachers revolves around the notion that I should ‘practice what I preach’.
