ABSTRACT
Epistemological considerations are high priority, for who would deny that the purpose of any research enterprise is to create knowledge and, in the process, improve our understanding of the worlds in which we live and operate. ‘In carrying out research the purpose is to try to make some claim to knowledge; to try to show something that was not known before’ (Bassey, 1990a, p. 35).
