ABSTRACT

How are kindergarten and primary-school teachers socialized during their education? Will the two groups of teachers have problems collaborating when they work together with 6-year-olds. The article proposes that the kindergarten-teacher students and primaryschool teacher students in Norway are socialized into different professional values with respect to caring relationships and that educational knowledge is organized according to different codes in the two professional cultures. The study indicates that different teaching traditions of primary school and kindergarten also can be observed in classroom interaction and supervision during teacher education.
