ABSTRACT
My intention here is first to give the reader a sense of myself as the participantobserver and each classroom, with a biographical sketch characterization of myself and each teacher, her change and teaching philosophy, and issues of selfesteem. Throughout the chapter I make use of data from all sources: participantobservation, teacher interviews, videotapings, self-assessment instruments, children’s drawings, and other materials.
