ABSTRACT

This chapter is a version of a report made by a teacher member of the management group of the Warwick University secondary PGCE mentoring scheme, and reflects the views of the schools’ mentors1 together with those of the University’s professional and subject tutors at the end of the first year of the pilot. The views of each group of people consulted are placed together, because this is thought to be the most helpful and most accessible way into the scheme for those institutions interested in how the Warwick pilot scheme for school-based teacher education worked in 1992-93.
