ABSTRACT

This chapter is concerned with a specific model of work-based learning, Work-Based Learning: A Good Practice Model (Levy, 1991). This model was described at its initiation as outcomes-oriented, and could be perceived as having contributed to the genesis of the Jessup outcomes model. Readers may find that the workbased learning (WBL) model illuminates some of the issues associated with the Jessup model. The WBL model was explicit in its overall aims, values and purposes: to develop the skills base of the UK workforce to support UK economic needs.
