ABSTRACT
Having outlined some of the moral problematics of schools, we may now discuss the deeper reasons why we find current practices in schooling ethically troubling. We find these practices troubling because we intuitively grasp that they run counter to the development of a truly ethical person. But what is our notion of a truly ethical person?
