ABSTRACT

Peer assessment is assessment by students of other students. It is generally used where students are working on a group project or oral presentation. The assessment is usually criterion-based. in that students assess each other on a range of criteria applied to the students’ contributions to the project. It is common practice, according to Lejk and Wyvill (2001), to weight each criterion: then the weighted scores add up to give an overall score for each member of the group. Peer assessment thus provides a means of differentiating between individual students’ contributions.
