ABSTRACT

This part of the book has highlighted issues of reuse of a number of types of resources, and the importance of standards and software tools. In this chapter we integrate these issues by outlining our experiences in reusing a variety of resources within a group of multidisciplinary, international partners. This work is based upon the CANDLE project, comprising 12 collaborating partners from seven countries, sponsored by the Fifth Framework Programme of the European Union. We focus on learning objects and what makes them shareable and reusable, highlighting some of the issues we have encountered, including pedagogical methodology, re-engineering course material and technological support tools. This chapter will be of interest to academics, learning technologists and course developers implementing systems that will allow the sharing and reuse of learning objects.
