ABSTRACT

Computer mediated communication (CMC) has changed the nature of learning at a distance from an individual experience that is largely remote and isolated from other students, to one in which the technology can enable more ongoing interaction with fellow students. The potential of using online technology such as computer conferencing to provide students with a means of developing and sharing their construction of knowledge of their course, while they socially construct group knowledge within a collaborative learning environment, is one of the greatest advantages of CMC.
