ABSTRACT
As far as citizenship education is concerned the new politics offer a triple challenge to the education sector, that is, to those involved in developing, supporting and delivering education and education services. The challenges are to:
• support the introduction of citizenship education in schools; • promote active citizenship in the community; and • build both around a common purpose and shared action.
