ABSTRACT

In contrast, Edge Hill and Chester Colleges, in association with the Mersey Deanery for Postgraduate Medical and Dental Education, have developed a post-graduate certificate in teaching and learning in clinical practice for professionals in practice who have a significant element of their time devoted to the training and supervision of students and junior professionals. This programme was developed to meet the training needs of a range of senior health professionals who would have difficulty in meeting at a set time each week in one location. Online delivery offered flexibility in time and space; but it also offered the potential of bringing teaching staff from three institutions together, and accessing other expertise internationally via the Internet. In addition online delivery allowed content and information to be modified almost daily-in contrast to perhaps a year’s delay in altering print-based materials.
