ABSTRACT

Evidence 5 Caffarella (1993) sees many positive effects of self-directed learning and the sense of autonomy it creates: students show independence and can make decisions. He also claims that in the process, students are able to reach a further depth of character; be able to articulate clearly the range of learning activities that they can undertake and develop a strong sense of personal values and beliefs. A further claim is coupled with two aspects of collaborative learning, namely, interdependence and interconnectedness.
