ABSTRACT
The main issue raised in this case is how teachers’ emotions and values can be critically exposed when working with students of whose behaviour they disapprove.
Background
This case occurred at the Open University in the UK. It concerns the tuition that was provided on site for prison inmates. I was the Open University link for the Education Department of a high security prison. The students were Gary and Ron, both serving life sentences for serious crimes.
