ABSTRACT
Once again, you are not expected to be an expert or professional counsellor in this area of your work and you should be supported by those who are. Your job is to act as a first point of contact for students and to refer them on to those who can provide professional support. You will, however, need to have good interpersonal skills and sensitivity to cope effectively with the demands of this aspect of your role.
