ABSTRACT
With increasing recognition of the value of ‘learning-by-doing’, the role of tutors has changed from being ‘founts of knowledge’ to being facilitators of learning. However, if tutors are to be as helpful to learners as possible, it is useful for them to be available as a ‘learning resource’ at suitable times and in suitable ways.
